smartIO TC8

note

This article describes the hardware of the smartIO TC8.
Information about the setup can be found here.

The smartIO 8TC offers eight inputs for type K thermocouples with a measuring measuring range from -200 °C to +700 °C (±2K) at a sampling rate of 10 Hz. With reduced accuracy, the entire working range of the thermocouples is of course from -270 °C to +1800 °C is covered. The measuring inputs are isolated from supply voltage and CAN.

Connections for analog sensors

The connection cable

It is important that, if there is a greater distance between the smartIO 8TC and the sensor, suitable cables and plug connectors are used between the sensor cable and the compensating cable. are used. Compensating cables are significantly cheaper in terms of cost / length than the sensor cables, but have similar electrical properties to the sensor materials in a very narrow, "normal" temperature range. similar electrical properties to the sensor materials. This means that the actual compensation point remains at the connection of the smartIO. The use of external reference junction is not intended. Sources of supply for compensating cables are e.g. Rössel-Messtechnik, Omega, Lappkabel or any other well-stocked distributor for sensors and measuring cables. To minimize interference, we recommend the use of twisted pairs. the use of shielded cables twisted in pairs.
