This article describes the hardware of the smartIO 8U12 or 8I12. These modules have been replaced by the 8x24.

The smartIO 8U12 and 8I12 offer eight differential analog inputs with a measuring range of measuring range of ±10V (8U12) or 4-20 mA (8I12) and a sampling rate of 1 to 500 Hz (adjustable). The measuring input has a high-impedance design so that the measured voltage is voltage is only slightly loaded. A wide common mode range of up to 60V also allows measurement on battery packs in series connection. The analog inputs are isolated from CAN and the power supply.
